About Frostamp

Power and cooling for RV, van and car camping — sized right, not guessed.

Why this exists

Most people buy the fridge first and think about power second. Then they find out on the second night that the battery cannot keep up, and they are rationing power with food in the van.

I started Frostamp because that mistake is almost always avoidable. It comes down to one number you can work out before you spend anything: how many watt-hours your setup actually uses in a day. Get that number first, and almost every later decision gets easier — station size, solar, wiring, temperature settings.

What you will find here

  • Sizing guides for 12V fridges, portable power stations and van solar
  • Buying checklists built around specs you can actually verify
  • Temperature, runtime and power-draw questions, answered with numbers
  • Plain answers about what you do not need to buy

How I work

  • Every figure is traceable to a named source — usually the manufacturer's own specification sheet for the exact model
  • When a listing shows a headline number but no usable rating, I say so instead of guessing
  • When the useful answer is "it depends", I tell you what it depends on
  • I never invent testing I did not do, or trips I did not take

What I am not

I am not an electrician or an electrical engineer. This site is general information, not professional advice. For fixed wiring, mains connections, or anything you are unsure about, use a qualified electrician — and always follow the manufacturer's instructions for your exact model.
